On May 23, 2022, the European Commission issued an announcement to make a preliminary affirmative anti-dumping ruling on Electrolytic Chrome Plated Steel originating in China and Brazil and decided to impose anti-dumping measures on the companies involved from the day after this announcement was published in the Official Gazette.
A six-month provisional anti-dumping duty will be imposed, ranging from 33.2% to 77.9% for the products involved in China and 52.0% for the products involved in Brazil. The tax rates are detailed in the table below. The EU CN (Combined Nomenclature) codes of the products involved are 7210 50 00 and 7212 50 20.
The dumping and damage investigation period, in this case, is from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021, and the damage investigation period is from January 1, 2018, to the end of the dumping and damage investigation period. Stakeholders should submit comments on the case within 15 natural days from the effective date of the preliminary ruling, and submit a hearing application within 5 natural days.
On September 24, 2021, the European Commission issued an announcement stating that in response to an application submitted by the European Steel Association on August 13, 2021, the European Commission will conduct anti-dumping investigations on electroplated chrome steel originating in China and Brazil.
