Australia initiates anti-dumping exemption investigation on China welded pipes
On December 23, 2022, the Australian Anti-dumping Commission issued Announcement No. 2022/110, stating that at the application of the Australian domestic company Emro Products Pty Ltd, the import of welded pipes (Certain Hollow Structural Sections) initiated an anti-dumping exemption investigation, and at the same time initiated an anti-subsidy exemption investigation on welded pipes in mainland China.
Products applying for exemption are as follows:
• Chrome-plated steel pipe OD 25mm (round) and
• Chrome-plated steel pipe 30x15mm (oval).
The Australian customs codes of the products involved are 7306.30.00.31 (round) and 7306.69.00.10 (oval).
On September 19, 2011, Australia launched anti-dumping and countervailing investigations on welded pipes imported from mainland China, and anti-dumping investigations on welded pipes imported from South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan. On July 3, 2012, Australia made an affirmative final ruling on the case. On October 31, 2016, the Australian Anti-dumping Commission issued Announcement No. 2016/113 to conduct the first anti-dumping sunset review investigation on welded pipes imported from mainland China, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan. The products involved in the case were investigated for the first countervailing sunset review. On September 22, 2021, the Australian Anti-dumping Commission issued Announcement No. 2021/122, launching the second anti-dumping and anti-subsidy sunset review investigation on welded pipes imported from mainland China, and at the same time, imports from South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan. Welded Pipe initiated the second anti-dumping sunset review investigation. On July 1, 2022, Australia made an affirmative final ruling on the second sunset review of the case, and decided to continue to implement anti-dumping and countervailing measures against the products involved in the above-mentioned countries and regions.
