Data from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation showed that Japan exported 2.572 million tons of steel in February, a year-on-year decrease of 5.0%, the second consecutive month of year-on-year decline. Among them, the export volume of ordinary steel was 1.677 million tons, down 2.2% year-on-year.
In terms of exports of major products, the export volume of hot-rolled wide-strip steel in February was 813,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.1%, the second consecutive month of year-on-year decline; the export of thick plate was 224,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 22.4%; galvanized steel sheet and cold rolled steel The export volume of wide-band steel was 176,000 tons and 153,000 tons, respectively, down 21.4% and 15.6% year-on-year, both for the second consecutive month.
In terms of imports, Japan imported 573,000 tons of steel in February, a year-on-year decrease of 8.1%. Among them, imported ordinary steel was 313,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 15.7%, the first decline in four months. In terms of main product types, Japan imported 103,000 tons of hot-rolled wide-strip steel in February, down 16.6% year-on-year, the first year-on-year decline in six months;
imported cold-rolled wide-strip steel was 60,000 tons, down 12.8% year-on-year, for the first time in 13 months The year-on-year decrease; the imported galvanized steel sheet was 64,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.7%, the first year-on-year decrease in four months; the imported thick plate was 26,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 48.8%.
