Australia launches review investigation into galvanized sheets

Australia initiates the second double-reverse sunset review investigation on China-related galvanized sheets

On August 22, 2022, the Australian Anti-dumping Commission issued Announcement No. 2022/086, stating that in response to the application submitted by the Australian company BlueScope Steel Ltd on July 29, 2022, the import of galvanized sheets from China, Taiwan, and South Korea (Zinc Coated (Galvanised) Steel) initiated the second anti-dumping sunset review investigation, and initiated the second anti-subsidy sunset review investigation on galvanized sheets imported from mainland China.

The review and investigation period of this case is from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022. The Australian customs codes of the products involved are 7210.49.00.55, 7210.49.00.56, 7210.49.00.57, 7210.49.00.58, 7212.30.00.61, 7225.92.00.38, and 7226.99.00.71. The Australian Anti-dumping Commission is expected to submit the final anti-dumping and countervailing sunset review recommendations to the Australian Minister of Industry, Energy, and Emission Reduction no later than January 24, 2023.

On November 10, 2017, the Australian Anti-dumping Commission issued Announcement No. 2017/159, stating that in response to an application submitted by Australian company BlueScope Steel Limited on October 6, 2017, the first anti-dumping was initiated against galvanized sheets imported from mainland China. and anti-subsidy sunset review investigation initiated the first anti-dumping sunset review investigation on galvanized sheets imported from South Korea and Taiwan.

On July 17, 2018, the Australian Anti-dumping Commission issued Announcement No. 2018/96, making the first anti-dumping sunset review affirmative final ruling on galvanized sheets imported from mainland China, Taiwan, and South Korea, and decided to continue to impose on the above countries. Anti-dumping duties are imposed on the products involved in the case/region, ranging from 0% to 20.6%, 2.4% to 28.2%, and 2.4% to 13.7%; the first anti-subsidy sunset review of galvanized sheets imported from mainland China is made a positive final ruling, decided to continue to levy 0% to 22.8% of the countervailing duty on the products involved. The measures are valid until August 6, 2023.
