What Is Silicon Steel?
Silicon steel is a special cold-rolled steel whose main feature is the addition of silicon to its chemical composition. This material has a wide range of applications in the electrical industry and power equipment.
The main characteristics of silicon steel are low magnetic permeability and high resistivity, which make it very suitable for the manufacture of power transformers, generators, motors and other electrical equipment. Its low magnetic permeability reduces eddy current loss and high resistivity reduces Joule heat loss, giving silicon steel advantages in energy transmission and conversion.
In addition, silicon steel is also often called “electrical steel” or “silicon steel sheet”. According to different application requirements, silicon steel can be divided into different grades and specifications. For example, silicon steel used in power transformers generally uses grades with high silicon content to obtain lower hysteresis loss and iron loss.
